Synrdyne Introduces Bankcheck for the Financial Industry
AUSTIN, TX March 25, 2004 -- Synrdyne Solutions, Inc., an emerging leader in the identification verification and biometric authentication marketplace, today announced the release of Bankcheck®, a fixed-site identification verification solution designed to help financial institutions combat the growing incidence of identity theft around the country. Until now, financial institutions have had to rely on tier one offerings that verify ID templates and tier two offerings that check the magnetic stripe or 2D barcode on the presented identification to verify its security coding is accurate and then perform a simplistic age calculation. Unfortunately, these systems rely on old technology that does not verify the authenticity of the identification being provided. With Bankcheck, financial institutions have a comprehensive system that provides proof positive verification of identification documents presented.
"It is a well know fact that more than 500 million checks are forged annually with losses totaling more than $10 Billion in the United States alone," stated Robert Sanchez, president of Synrdyne. "It is the company's goal to provide the financial community the ability to counter the growing problems associated with identity theft and check fraud through the use of the Synrdyne Bankcheck system."
Bankcheck allows financial institutions to verify identification of customers using a seamless system that will authenticate account holders and non-account holders while they conduct normal financial business at teller stations. The Bankcheck software runs on the Microsoft Windows operating system and incorporates a dual barcode and magnetic reader coupled with a fingerprint reader and digital camera. The system securely brokers identification information back to the Federal or State source database and provides the teller with the authenticated data. The Bankcheck system allows for enrollment of all customers by authenticating the identification through the sourcing database and then captures an Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) compliant fingerprint and facial image of the customer. The Bankcheck solution is the first truly integrated network-centric system that couples Information on Demand (IOD) with biometrics to counter the growing threat associated with identity theft and check fraud.
According to the Department of Justice, personal data – especially a Social Security number, a bank account number and driver's license – can be used illegally to personally profit at the victim's expense. In the United States many people have reported that unauthorized persons have taken funds out of their bank accounts and in extreme cases, have had their identity taken over altogether, running up vast debts and committing crimes while using the victim's names. Bankcheck from Synrdyne will be instrumental in rapidly putting a stop to this identity theft epidemic.
Price and Availability
The Synrdyne Bankcheck system is available immediately. Pricing for the Bankcheck system starts at $1,495 for the software and hardware, consisting of fingerprint scanner, digital camera, and 2D/Magstripe reader with source database subscription service starting at $150 per month.
